2025 Lichten Competition

CALL FOR 2025 LICHTEN AWARD COMPETITION – SOUTHEAST REGION

The Lichten Award allows VFS members to present their work at local and regional VFS meetings. Please note: Those who have not previously presented the results of their work at any technical forum are eligible for the award.

The winner of the National Lichten Award Competition will be invited to present their paper at VFS Forum 81 and will receive the following:

  • Travel funds up to $1,500 to the Forum scheduled for May 20-22, 2025, in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
  • Complimentary Forum registration and lodging
  • $500 honorarium sponsored by Bell
  • The first runner-up can also present at the Forum. They will receive complimentary Forum registration and a certificate.

If interested, please email info@fcc.vtol.org with your presentation title, a brief abstract, and a short biography no later than January 10th, 2025. Participants will compete in-person to select the winner of the Southeast Region competition. The winning presentation must prepare and submit a written paper to VFS headquarters by February 28, 2025.

The Lichten Award was established in 1975 to honor the memory of Robert L. Lichten, an outstanding rotary-wing engineer and the Society’s 22nd president.
